On my birthday, Jan was still in Utrecht after a night out with big Maaike and Titus. I came down for breakfast and ate with Mum and Maaike. Then I suggested that I shower with Maaike, she had a great time, warm rain, playing with bits and bobs, soap. I'd finished and I think Maaike had the equivelent of about 3 showers before I officially declared the water had finished. I did my makeup, did maaike's makeup - a bit of blusher and lip gloss, which she loved! and we got dressed. I was due to to to Chantals and as Jan wasn't back, I thought, might as well take her with me. Jesse, is Chantal's 2nd and he's 4. He doesn't speak a word of English and Maaike doesn't speak any Dutch but they played together fine, especially with the Crocodile snappy teeth game.

This is way overdue, but this was taken on the 18th of December in the Dorstike Hert, Langenieuwstraat, Utrecht. We went in there for one beer and as is traditional, 3 or more beers later we are still there, we saw lots of old faces and vowed to do it again which of course didn't materialise. I very happy picture and a very happy evening.

Finally to today! I had my hair done, some dark red and chocolate streaks and she dried it to go a bit curly. Still no boiler so it's great to have my hair washed too. The boiler is finally fixed but the man from the gas has to come tomorrow and do the rest of the checks and turn it all back on. I hope and pray he can do what he needs to do without too much work, especially if it means moving the boxing in where the gas pipes go. Lets hope it's simple and straight forward. I'm so looking forward to having a bath for a start!
It's been an eventful week. Dad came up on Monday and we went shopping for my lovely shoes - there will almost certainly be a photo when I get to dress up in an outfit with them. We spent a couple of fruitless hours shopping for a coat or bag, I found nothing that worked so eventually I said I need a pair of gloves and a wooly hat to go with my scarf, so that became my chrissie pressie. I gave him his pressies; videos of Moulin Rouge and Flash Gordon plus two books, Dream Time by Henry Treece and a biography of Granny O'Malley - that was the surprise pressie, the rest he'd asked for. We went to see The Incredibles which was fabulous! I have already told Janet we will be taking Maaike when we get to Holland. It was great. Dad stayed over, I had to sit at home while the boiler was fixed so dad hung out with me on Tuesday, we watched 3 Mark Steele lectures he'd not seen, had a laugh and lunch. Dad also got to find something he wanted on the Elfquest site and we ordered it from Ebay. I'm really happy with life at the moment. I really miss Toby, I wish we had more money, but it's an adventure I'm happy to be on. Toby may be in Ely but we are always in touch and it won't be much longer, only until the 20th and then we have a fortnight together.
