A piece of history, this church was set up in 1662 as a five mile chapel. When Charles II re did the english prayer book, people who didn't want to use it had to worship 5 miles outside the city. Many Quakers set up chapels like this. this one is probably the only one left as well as the only one in continous use. Its just outside Corsham, just over 5 miles from Bath! It was the most amazing find, with the original box pews, it was more like a house. There was a fire place in the middle and people used to sit in the box pews with enough food to stay all sunday. Amazing. Posted by Picasa
